Dr Dannaway provides assessment and treatment for fractures of the shoulder, elbow, wrist and hand. With onsite X-ray and ultrasound available, patients can often have imaging completed promptly to guide diagnosis and decision-making.
He manages both simple and complex injuries, offering guidance on immobilisation, surgical options where required, and structured plans for recovery. Care is coordinated to support healing, restore function and reduce the risk of long-term stiffness or weakness.
Patient-Focused Approach
Dr Dannaway places a strong emphasis on understanding each patient’s goals, lifestyle and day-to-day needs. He takes the time to explain diagnoses, outline treatment options and support patients in making informed decisions about their care.
His background in physiotherapy helps him consider both surgical and non-surgical pathways, allowing treatment plans to be tailored to the individual.
Working closely with the wider Joint Vision team — including physiotherapists, nurses and onsite imaging — he aims to create a coordinated and supportive experience from the first appointment through to recovery.
Commitment to Research and Learning
Dr Dannaway has a strong interest in research and medical education. He holds a Master of Philosophy (Medicine), with his thesis examining factors that influence outcomes in arthroplasty. He also completed a Master of Clinical Education and remains actively involved in teaching medical trainees and allied health professionals. His commitment to academic development was recognised through the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons Younger Fellows Leadership Exchange Grant in 2023. Dr Dannaway continues to contribute to research, learning and quality improvement initiatives that support ongoing advancements in orthopaedic care.
