Physio Kat Chounlamountry on Why Joint Vision Is Wollongong’s Go-To for Rehab

For senior physiotherapist Kat Chounlamountry, helping people move freely again isn’t just a job — it’s instinct.

“It’s something that’s always been inbuilt within me,” Kat said.

“I can’t even help it if someone’s walking on the street and their crutches are the wrong height,” Kat said, laughing.

“I cannot physically stop myself from saying, ‘Oh, by the way, you might want to consider this’.”

That genuine care for people is at the heart of everything Kat does at Joint Vision Orthopaedic Group, where she helps patients recover from injury and get back to doing what they love.

“We work with people with injuries to get them back on their feet and doing whatever it was they enjoyed doing before they hurt themselves or before their injury developed,” she said.

What makes Joint Vision different for injury recovery

Kat said what made Joint Vision so unique was how seamlessly everything came together.

“What we offer here is fantastic, especially for busy people and time-poor people, which most of us are,” she said.

“It really is a one-stop shop

"You can really come here and have everything done by professionals who genuinely care.“

From imaging and consultations to tailored rehabilitation, patients can access everything they need in one place — saving time, stress, and uncertainty.

“When new patients come, they can have the investigations they need before they see the doctor,” she said.

"They’re also able to have the allied health team come in and give them whatever rehab they need.

“Whether that’s myself doing physio with a more exercised-based approach, an osteopath with the hands-on skills, or podiatry looking at the real nitty gritty.

“It means you don’t have to go somewhere else for your x-ray, then see your doctor, then have the doctor say ‘Where do you want to do your physiotherapy?’ and you’re not really sure, so basically you're Googling it.

“It’s all done here, efficiently and collaboratively.”

A wealth of physiotherapy experience

Kat comes with a wealth of experience as a senior physiotherapist within the allied health team in Wollongong.

With more than 10 years of experience in rehabilitation in the UK, Singapore and Australia, what drives her most is helping provide people with long-term solutions they can implement and sustain themselves.

In 2017, she even founded her own company in Singapore, focusing on elite athletes, post-surgery orthopaedic rehab and women’s health.

She particularly enjoyed playing pivotal roles for the annual International Singapore Rugby 7s tournament and international South East Asian AFL league.

Outside of work, Kat can usually be found running after her two young kids, and enjoying a Muay Thai class.

Stop living with aches or injuries

Kat’s advice for anyone living with ongoing aches or injuries?

“Don’t put it off," she said.

"If you’ve got any aches and pains, I’m more than happy to have you come see me at Joint Vision.”
