Free Junior Athlete Education Night to Help Young Basketballers Stay Healthy and Perform at Their Best
Illawarra Hawks NBL1 star Matt Mims will join the Joint Vision team next month for a free Junior Athlete Education Night designed to help young basketballers stay healthy, prevent injuries and improve their performance.
Held in partnership with Illawarra Basketball Association, the interactive event is aimed at junior players and their parents, combining practical health education with on-court basketball instruction.
The evening will conclude with an exclusive shooting clinic led by Matt Mims, giving young players the opportunity to learn from one of the region's premier basketballers.
As an added bonus, every family attending will automatically go into the draw to win a private one-hour basketball clinic with Matt Mims and Illawarra Hawks NBL1 star Sophie Johnston, both Joint Vision athletes, for up to five junior players.
Joint Vision IBA athletes Matt Mims and Sophie Johnston. Mims will join Joint Vision for a free Junior Athlete Education Night featuring injury prevention education and a basketball shooting clinic.
Joint Vision CEO Wynter Dares said the event reflected the practice's commitment to supporting young athletes both on and off the court.
"Too often we only see young athletes after they've been injured," Wynter said.
"This night is about helping players and parents understand how to reduce injury risk, train smarter and keep kids enjoying the sports they love."
Throughout the evening, Joint Vision's allied health team will deliver a series of practical, hands-on stations covering topics including:
Injury prevention for junior athletes
Ankle strapping demonstrations
Movement and jumping assessments
Basketball footwear advice
Recovery and performance strategies
Parent question and answer session
Rather than sitting through presentations, families will rotate through interactive stations where they can speak directly with Joint Vision's physiotherapists, exercise physiologists and podiatrists, ask questions and learn practical tips they can immediately apply.
The evening will finish on the court, where Matt Mims will lead a fun shooting clinic with participating junior basketballers.
