How Steffan Evans Swapped Irish Dancing Shoes for a Career in Healing Feet
When Steffan Evans was a teenager suffering from shin pain, he faced a decision that would shape the rest of his life — follow his passion for Irish dance or pursue an interest in podiatry.
Fortunately for his patients, podiatry won out.
Now a qualified podiatrist at Joint Vision, Steffan is dedicated to diagnosing and treating foot and ankle conditions, helping people get back on their feet — quite literally.

Steffan Evans on podiatry at Joint Vision
Becoming a foot and ankle specialist in Wollongong
“My journey started when I was about 14 or 15 years old,” Steffan said.
“I had shin pain myself, so I went down to the local podiatry university. It just looked quite interesting.
“It was a toss up between that or Irish music and dance, so I ended up doing podiatry instead”, he said, with a laugh.
While Irish dancing remains a fond memory, Steffan finds immense satisfaction in his profession as a podiatrist in Wollongong.
“As a podiatrist, I work quite inclusively with foot and ankle pathologies,” he said.
“It’s really satisfying when you get something right.”
How a podiatrist can help with foot pain
He said as a foot and ankle specialist, it was also great to witness a patient’s transformation.
“Someone comes in and they’ve been in pain for six or seven months, sometimes longer, and after a couple of sessions and a few tweaks, they’re back to their normal activities,” he said.
That sense of impact drives him.
“You get kind of a funny feeling inside,” he added, with a smile.
At Joint Vision, Steffan encourages anyone suffering from persistent foot or ankle issues to reach out.
“I’m here to help. I’ve probably seen it before, and no doubt, hopefully I can help you get back to normal living,” he said.
