“It’s Patient-Centred Care”: The Role of Allied Health Assistant Rebecca Kay
For lead allied health assistant Rebecca Kay, the most rewarding part of her job is witnessing transformation — watching patients arrive with limited mobility and leaving with confidence, strength, and a renewed sense of possibility.
“It’s patient-centred care,” Rebecca said.
“Not only that, it’s about following the patient’s journey and making a difference in the quality of life for some patients.
“You see some patients come literally having difficulty walking, but by the time they’ve been treated, they’re back to achieving the goals and the things they want in life.”

As part of the multidisciplinary team at Joint Vision Orthopaedic Group, Rebecca plays a crucial role in supporting physiotherapists, podiatrists, other allied health clinicians and surgeons.
Her work ensures patients receive seamless, cohesive care from their first assessment through to the final stages of rehabilitation.
Hands-on support across the entire rehab pathway
Rebecca’s role involves practical, hands-on support that is deeply connected to a patient’s progress.
“Clinicians will develop an exercise program, and then I can go ahead with the patient and go through that program with them,” she said.
“I also help with other therapies like Breg therapy - or ice therapy they call that - laser therapy, and assisting with taking casts on and off.”
Her role bridges the space between clinician and patient, helping ensure the patient is guided through their exercise plan, therapies are delivered correctly, and patients feel supported throughout their rehabilitation.
It’s a position that combines technical skill with empathy — and one Rebecca has embraced wholeheartedly.
Proud to be part of the team
With more than 20 years’ experience in podiatry-related roles, Rebecca said the role of lead allied health assistant was incredibly fulfilling.
“I’m proud to work for Joint Vision,” she said.
“I’ve learned so much in the time I’ve been here.”
For patients, that means having someone in their corner every step of the way — someone who not only understands their physical needs but genuinely wants to see them thrive.
An allied health assistant’s role through your journey
Whether guiding patients through a tailored exercise program, preparing for treatments or assisting with hands-on therapies, Rebecca sees herself as part of a bigger mission: delivering exceptional, team-based care that changes lives.
