How Radiographer Michelle Le Plenier Supports Orthopaedic Diagnosis With X-Ray Imaging
For radiographer Michelle Le Plenier, there’s something incredibly rewarding about being part of a patient’s diagnosis — the moment uncertainty becomes clarity.
“I like being part of the patient’s diagnosis and seeing them on their journey,” Michelle said.
At Joint Vision Orthopaedic Group in Wollongong, Michelle plays a crucial role in the very first step of many patient journeys.
From initial injury assessments to follow-up imaging, she provides the x-rays that help the clinical team pinpoint what’s going on and map out the best path forward.

A key part of every patient’s story
Michelle has worked extensively across the Illawarra Shoalhaven district, as well as rural NSW and overseas, coming to Joint Vision with a wealth of experience.
“My role here is to provide the x-ray imaging for the patients from their initial diagnosis all the way up to the end of their journey,” Michelle said.
That means she’s often the first person a patient meets after presenting with a new injury — and the one who helps clinicians see exactly what they’re dealing with.
But for Michelle, the work is much more than technical.
“I like interacting with different people and finding out different things,” she said.
“You learn quite a bit from patients about diseases or diagnoses you haven’t come across before.”
Clarity patients can feel
While many patients arrive anxious or unsure, Michelle understands the relief that comes from finally getting answers.
“Everybody likes to have something diagnosed when they feel that something’s wrong,” she said.
“So that’s a nice thing to be a part of.”
Joint Vision’s integrated model — with imaging, allied health, and specialists working together in one location — makes that process faster and more reassuring for patients.
No extra appointments. No running between clinics. No waiting weeks for next steps.
“They get to come here, have it all done, and the patients love that,” she said.
Michelle enjoys working as part of that multidisciplinary team, liaising and collaborating with other health professionals to ensure an accurate and comprehensive patient service.
Ready when you need a radiographer
As patients move through their treatment plan, Michelle continues providing the scans that help track progress, assess healing, and support decisions along the way.
“If you’re in need of x-rays,” she said, “I’ll be here at Joint Vision ready to do them for you.”
