How a Wollongong Orthopaedic Clinic Became a Four-Time Business Awards Finalist

In just five years, Joint Vision Orthopaedic Group has grown from a bold idea into one of the Illawarra’s most respected healthcare providers... and the wider business community is taking notice. 

This week, the practice was named a finalist in four categories at the 2025 IMB Bank Illawarra Business Awards:

For co-founders Dr Meghan Dares and Wynter Dares, it’s a moment of reflection and recognition, not just of what the business has achieved, but how it’s gone about achieving it.

Changing the Shape of Care 

At the heart of Joint Vision’s success is its integrated model of care, where orthopaedic surgeons, physiotherapists, pain specialists, podiatrists and imaging experts work side-by-side, often in the same appointment, to provide seamless treatment for patients.

Dr Laura Clarke, Director of Allied Health and a finalist for Outstanding Business Leader, has helped shape one of the region’s most dynamic clinical teams. With a PhD in sports injury research and a deep commitment to patient-first care, Dr Clarke has become a driving force in both the practice and the broader Illawarra health community. 

Joint Vision Has Culture at the Core 

Being named a finalist for Excellence in Workplace Culture is especially meaningful for the team - and it’s not just lip service. From flexible schedules and mentorship pathways to an in-house research institute (JVORI) and data-informed care, the culture is built on purpose and support.

“There’s a deep respect for expertise here, but also a real humility,” Wynter said. “Everyone from the front desk to the operating theatre is pulling in the same direction.”

Winners of the 2025 IMB Bank Illawarra Business Awards will be announced at a gala awards ceremony later this year, but for the Joint Vision team, the real prize is the validation of their people and their model.
